I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one. 1 John 2:14
The Christian life is sometimes described as warfare. It is a spiritual battle between the Spirit of Jehovah and the spirit of Satan. Whether we are aware of it or not, we are engaged in this battle.
Although Christ has won the battle for us, we have an enemy who doesn’t know how to surrender. No matter the amount of battering and pummeling he receives, he keeps fighting.
Satan’s first and foremost battle strategy is deception.
He is the father of lies who employs both sophisticated and crude lies to fight the believer. As long as Satan’s influence in a person’s life remains undetected, he is content to lie low and not show his hand. Like a snake in the grass, he quietly sneaks up on his prey and squeezes the life out of it.
But when you confront Satan’s deception and expose his lies with the truth, his strategy changes from quiet deception to a bold pretense of power. He acts the roaring lion and starts to intimidate the child of God with his bullying tactics.
We must avoid buying into Satan’s second strategy of power as much as we avoid swallowing his first strategy of deception. He gives a false show of power in order to provoke fear in you. When fear is controlling a believer, the enemy has the upper hand. The power of the Christian is in the truth of the word of God.
Today, you can stand in the power of the Holy Spirit and walk in total victory over all manifestations of the evil one.
Prayer: In the name of Jesus, I destroy every work of the enemy in my life and family.
